“Swoon Bellies!

As a kid I collected hail from every hailstorm. I whittled sticks into weapons I never used.  I painted paintings with my fingers wearing my father’s old shirts.  I loved my father’s old shirts.  I loved fall.  I loved spring. I loved summer best.  Whenever my family had a yard sale I wanted to buy everything we sold.  I didn’t want to let anything go.   But when you let go, there is more room, a place for a new chair.  I have new chair.  I’ve been writing poems in it.  They are all about dusk.  It is good to be home.  

This summer I will be working on a new album devoted entirely to love.  I am a sucker for love….for the fire and the hush and the sweet bloom.  The album will feature new poems, old poems, and re-created poems, with some amazing musical guests.  I’m excited!

Also this summer I will be part of a couple of local Colorado benefit shows.  On June 23^rd I will be reading one or two poems at a benefit for www.not1moreacre.com at the Mercury Café in Denver.   On July 8^th I will be doing a FULL performance at the Unity Church in Boulder, Co with all proceeds going to the Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center.  Tickets for the Boulder event are available for purchase now at:http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/251854

I wrote the poem years ago but have been performing it regularly since the murder of Treyvon Martin.   It is titled “See-Through” and was originally written for the Vox Feminista show “”White Lies”.
